Frequently asked questions
Race/competition day supplements?+
Caffeine 3–6mg/kg 30–60 min prior, citrulline 6–8g 60 min prior — the most reproducible pre-competition combo. Beta-alanine requires 4 weeks of loading; a single race-day dose does little.
Is the beta-alanine tingling dangerous?+
Harmless paraesthesia. Split into 1–2g doses or use sustained-release to reduce it. The performance effect comes from chronic intramuscular carnosine build-up, not the tingle.
Does caffeine stop working?+
Tolerance varies, but reserving high doses for competition days and staying modest otherwise keeps the edge sharper. CYP1A2 genotype drives big response differences — some thrive on low doses, others feel nothing at 400mg.
